eBay watchlist report shows luxury brand resilience in 2025

The year may not yet be over but eBay has released its Watchlist Trend Report that highlights the “fashion moments that defined 2025”.

Powered by its real-time shopper insights, it’s all about what translated into searches, sales, and style trends across the marketplace. And despite luxury’s often-difficult year, eBay said Louis Vuitton and Gucci continued their global dominance, with more than 13 Louis Vuitton items listed every minute. Meanwhile, Jonathan Anderson’s Dior debut led to a 390% jump in searches for his name and what about Gucci? Well, Demna’s arrival drove interest up 87%.

But breakout brands like KidSuper (+173%) and LUAR (+270%) surged “as shoppers embraced next-generation creativity”.

More affordable luxury was key too as Coach was searched 92 times a minute.

And the company said pop culture moments made waves as Taylor Swift’s engagement photos sent Cartier Santos Demoiselle searches soaring 194%.

The company data is also pointing to what will be big during the festive shopping season with high shine a key trend. eBay said rhinestones, metallics, and shimmer “are stealing the spotlight” and in some surprising categories too with searches for metallic Onitsuka Tigers up 423%, while Seiko rhinestone watches saw a 983% search jump.

By contrast, ‘cosy luxury’ is key with items like suede penny loafers (+47% year-on-year) and embellished slippers (+98%) “elevating everyday comfort into something effortlessly refined”.

What eBay calls the ‘loud layers’ trend also sees “outerwear turned into the ultimate statement piece, with bright coats (+365%) and funnel-neck jackets (+136%) leading the charge”.

Meanwhile, jewel tones and touches come tot he fore as shoppers have embraced rich hues and gemstone details, with searches for ruby (18 times a minute year-to-date), sapphire (33 times a minute), and amethyst (7.5 times a minute) all continuing to be key this season.

There’s also a strong vintage trend and it’s one that’s all about volume such as tea-length skirts (+90%) and balloon sleeves (+20%) adding touches of drama.
