Fashion retailer River Island has created a limited edition collection in a collaboration with Real Hackney Dave (RHD), it becoming the London-based artist’s first-ever clothing range.

Known for his bold typography and witty slogans, the artist usually screenprints his work onto found materials – from newsprint and maps to old cigarette cards. But now he brings his signature style to a capsule of streetwear pieces available exclusively at the high street retailer.
In collaboration with the RI design team, RHD has translated his art-with-attitude into a line of men’s, women’s and ‘mini-me’ hoodies, sweatshirts and T-shirts, creating a limited-edition range meant to be “as collectable as it is wearable”.
Some of his best-known artworks feature prominently in the range – including his ‘Norf Sarf’ slogan and ‘London Is Always a Good Idea’, the latter reimagined for regional exclusives available in River Island stores across Glasgow, Sheffield, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester and Dublin.
Emma Rossi, River Island’s design director, said: “Blending art with fashion, luxury with accessibility, and attitude with comfort, the collection continues River Island’s long tradition of collaborating with innovative artists and designers. These pieces are wearable, collectable and stand alone as must-have items.”
Dave Buonaguidi (aka Real Hackney Dave), added: “I like to create art for everyone, and I get really excited when people who aren’t necessarily into art still connect with my work. This collection brings together art, graphics and fashion — and I think that’s really interesting. There’s a lot of tension in the world right now, and both fashion and art have the power to bring positivity and happiness.”
